What is Batik?
It is a traditional textile art that involves a specialized method of applying dye to fabric, usually cotton or silk. There are about 3,000 recorded Gorean batik patterns, some of which include flowers, plants, birds, animals, insects, and geometric forms are all popular motifs.
Batik as the reverse of painting.
Instead of painting an area where you wish there to be color or a design on a piece of fabric, wax is applied to the area to keep it color free. The fabric is then immersed in dye, coloring all the areas of the fabric that are wax free. The fabric is dried and then the wax is heated in order to remove it.
The intricate and colorful batik we normally see is a complicated, multi-step process. The more colors a batik fabric has, the more times it has been through the process of applying wax, dying, and drying, then removing the wax. The process has to happen in a precise order that will produce the pattern or figures that are desired. Additionally, the order of which colors to apply also has to be followed.

Es ist eine traditionelle Textilkunst, die eine spezialisierte Methode um Stoff, meist Baumwolle oder Seide zu färben. Es gibt etwa 3.000 aufgezeichnete goreanische Batikmustern, von denen einige Blumen, Pflanzen, Vögel, Tiere, Insekten sind, und vor allem sind geometrische Formen sehr beliebte Motive.
Batik als Umkehrung der Malerei.
Statt Malerei wo Farbe oder ein Design auf ein Stück Stoff aufgetragen wird, ist Batik eine umkehrung der Malerei wo Wachs auf den Bereich angewandt, damit es frei von Farbe bleibt. Das Gewebe wird dann in Farbef getaucht und alle wachsfreien Bereiche des Gewebes werden gefärbt.. Das Gewebe wird getrocknet und anschließend wird das Wachs erhitzt, um es zu entfernen.
Die aufwendige und farbenfrohe Batik wir normalerweise, ist ein komplizierter, mehrstufiger Prozess. Je mehr Farben ein Batik Stoff hat, desto mehr Zeit wird benötigt durch das Auftragen von Wachs, Färben und Trocknen, dann das Entfernen des Wachses. Der Prozess muss in einer bestimmten Reihenfolge erfolgen, dass das Muster oder Figuren erscheinen. Zusätzlich ist die Reihenfolge der Farben zu beachten um die gewünschte Färbung zu erzielen.
